Phrase Or Slogan Copyright
While it is tough to protect your slogan or phrase through copyright, one way of doing so is by embedding it with some brand name. By doing so, you associate your phrase with a trademark and end up having the sole right over the phrase, quote or slogan. But that’s not always the case, especially for someone not associated with the field of marketing and business.
And this is where the tricky situation arises, even if your phrase is unique and has arisen out of your creative thinking; it is not protected by copyright. In most cases, copying a phrase or a slogan, which are not for branding, are considered plagiarism and not Copyright infringement. So, we can say that copying slogan is basically a moral sin than a legal crime. In both cases, though, the perpetrator can be taken to court.
